The Cairo International Film Festival is an internationally accredited film festival that is held annually. In 1976, It was launched by the writer-critic Kamal El-Mallakh and has taken place every year since its establishment. The aim of the festival was to enhance the role of Egyptian cinema in the field of filmmaking and to serve as a bridge between the cultures of the world. The festival is considered as one of the oldest and most prestigious film festivals in the world as it is one of only 15 Festivals accorded as a category “A” status by the FIAPF. The main approach in the festivals rebranding was to create an identity that reflects the egyptian culture, but also be internationally appealing.
